EMERGENCE

In philosophy, systems theory, science and art, emergent structures occur when a larger entity demonstrates properties and qualities that its constituent parts do not necessarily exhibit on their own. Emergence is used to describe complex behaviors and instances of self-organization from the molecular to the meteorological,

There is a particular poetry to emergence, a sense of possibility, of appreciating the interrelations of disparate elements in a whole that becomes itself only as a result of many individual parts. Something of the sublime emerges from emergence, an ability to sense more than what we can know, to mentally grasp more than we can physically hold or see or touch.
